I had an interesting experience on my way home today. I was coming down our street and this old woman was waving frantically from the ground. She'd fallen (had a cane) with a bag of raspberry bush cuttings and could barely speak a lick of english. She'd fallen into the raspberry bush and that had to of been prickly.
Despite language barriers, it wasn't that difficult to determine what it was that she needed.
I helped her back to her feet and made sure she could walk (I think she lived in one of the nearby homes not to far from us). I wanted to be sure she could get to where ever she was headed and hadn't broken anything. She was quite pleased and happy, patted me and I think kept repeating "thank you" in her native tongue (she is an Alaskan Native).
I'm not sure how she fell, but part of me was glad I happen to be passing by when I did. Not being very mobile has to be extremely frustrating.
Also, I have this overwhelming urge to make sure I give my grandma a call this weekend.
