Pieces of Me

Simple Small Things

January 2, 2018

I usually post a what I accomplished in 2017 with a what I hope to accomplish in 2018. I’m choosing not to do that this year in favor of just highlighting some small projects that I’m working on for myself. Like, I’m going to make a tremendous effort to write in a journal every day (or near every day). The sweetheart had gotten me this nice Zelda stationary set from last year that I’ve never used. I finally opened it the other day and realized that the journal was unlined and actually kind of nice. So I’ve dabbled off and on with bullet journaling and thought this would be a good opportunity to take advantage of this method for this journal (that’s not to say I won’t just write a traditional entry). I think ultimately it’ll depend on my mood.

I also started a self portrait 365 because why the heck not. These first two pictures has involved me making faces while snapping the picture. I also realize that if I succeed, I’ll look back at those pictures and realize that I look really tired in them because I’m still recovering from the doozy of a head cold the sweetheart shared with me.

So, during my week and a half off work, I slept most of it away or laid in bed feeling like death. Between those periods of time, I did work up my blog plan and post ideas for the year. I still have some fine tuning things to do, but I’m feeling pretty positive about this year in general from a blog stand point.

Will I hold myself accountable to the things I’ve prepped and would like to do? And how will I hold myself accountable for those things? I’m working on that part because I don’t want to feel an obligation to share everything here, but at the same time, I know it’s a good way to get encouragement and to keep going on a long term project.

For the mean time, I’m just going to continue trying to do simple small things and enjoy my little moments of joy and success as they come.

Here’s to a new year!

  1. Taking the time to write in a journal can be a very healthy activity. A bullet journal would be a lot of fun, as long as it didn’t cause stress trying to make it ‘perfect’. You just have to write/plan/scribble/draw in any way that helps you. 🙂

Capturing a self-portrait every day is a great idea! I have always admired the people that have been able to do it. You can find out a lot about yourself over that time.

I hope you do have a great 2018 and can focus on the small things. Personally, I have found that it’s the best way for me. Sometimes even baby steps towards a little thing is a huge thing. 😀

    1. I’ve been having some fun with the self portrait, I’m sure making faces at the camera will grow old after a while, but I’m going to keep enjoying it lol

Haven’t been so good on the journaling, but I also recognize that I shouldn’t beat myself up over it. I should just pick up where I left off and keep going!
