For the last three days I’ve been dealing with some serious migraine issues. Pretty sure though, as of today at least, that it’s allergy related. The headache itself is now under control, but I still have this dull throbbing, now finally centralized over the left side of my face. I also learned the other week that my rogue tooth will be meeting the end of its life before it develops potential severe symptoms for me. A few years ago, I had a strange anomaly show up on my x-rays showing a dark center to my tooth. On the outside of the tooth, it’s looked just fine, no problems (I still haven’t even had symptoms). Dentist sprayed direct cold air on it to get me to react (I felt absolutely nothing). So, we’ve been keeping an eye on it. At my last cleaning, the hygienist noticed that it’s started to look pink on the outside. The x-ray this year (when compared to last year’s), show there’s quite a bit more degradation to the inside of the tooth.
This last week was a long week. I had back to back meetings and then our major programmatic meeting at the end of the week. Thankfully, Friday wrapped up early (by noon) and I was able to take care of a few in office things and kind of unwind for a bit. I’ve also taken a much needed four day weekend (because why would anyone go in after two days off, work one day, get the next day off, then work the rest of the week)… 4th of July lands on a Tuesday, and I honestly would rather have consecutive days off. So I took monday for myself. Now I’m just kind of doing random things and playing with creative things.
This felt like an extremely long week. I got things accomplished, but I worry about what I didn’t get accomplished. I have to remember to step away from the work desk and realize that things will get finished, when they get finished. I’ve noticed during weeks when we have our programmatic meetings, I’m pretty much burned out for the rest of the week. I did make myself go for walks at lunch this week. It’s something I’m going to make time to do. I actually have a shorter lunch, so I’ve been trying to use that to my advantage. And it’s been so pretty out. I love that there’s sun, so why not go for a walk?
Time. Probably one of my number one biggest complaints when it comes to balancing the adulting activities with the “fun” activities. This morning, we spent it moving a rickety, unsturdy, falling apart dining room table out of the way to make way for a new really sturdy dining room table. After that, we spent a good bit of time outside shoveling snow. SNOW. IN FEBRUARY. It never snows anymore in February.
Yes, I finished my first image for the year (technically my second, I’m not actually satsified with the actual ‘first image’ that I’ve made).
And yes, I used it as the header image for the theme. Decided to make Twenty Sixteen work for me this year. I long for a traditional blog look I guess, and managed to pull it off a bit after finding some cheat codes to remove some of the (imho) uglier design elements. I keep mocking up things in photoshop, but I just lack the skills to rip it apart and put it into code anymore. Maybe more of a lack the patience. I was reading an article about the progression of the default wordpress themes. The first theme’s CSS file had approximately 150 lines of code. Today’s CSS file? Has nearly 3,000 lines of code or more. It’s kind of an eye opener how much more complicated web design has become.
My sister came to visit and then I like fizzled out. I think I did pretty good last month with nearly writing something every single day. We did a lot of things though and I still managed to catch a stomach virus the last two days of my vacation as well. Yay! Holidays!
